History:
The construction & electrification work includingthe Transformer installation was completed by mid May 2001 and the first residents
started moving in Paras City by May end. The quick five residents were the families of Mr BK Goswami (D1/103), Mrs. Asha Shidhar (A2/004), Mr. DS Thakur (A1/001), Mr. S Rawtani (A2/003) & Mr. Telang (A1/101). Since
most of the owners were busy getting wooden work done in their flats before
moving in or letting it out on rent, most of them moved in only after the rainy
season and the 'Pitra Paksha' period was over. It was only in October 2001, that
the community living spirit started getting generated.
Soon as winter started approaching, the bright and
cozy Sunday mornings in the garden offered
the perfect ambience for the people to mix and discuss the society issues
informally.
Gradually the attendance in such informal meetings swelled to about 10 persons
or so. The initial community events were Dusshehra in year 2001 followed by the
new-year dinner. Besides the initial teething problems of the new project, one
major discussion issue was the sum paid to builder for the maintenance and
various kinds of apprehensions about it. Soon an ad-hoc committee was
formed with Mr. Goswami as President, Mr. Hussain as Secretary and Mr. Aiyer as
Treasurer, which functioned smoothly for about an year addressing the day to day and other
issues of the society .
In a bid to have a greater autonomy and control, Paras
City Residents Association got registered as a society. It was then that the
issue of society elections and getting the By- laws approved, came up. Mr. KS
Saxena, who was entrusted with the task of
review of the bye-laws, came up with the recommendation of forming a
review committee which started functioning in late November 2002. With Mr. Saxena
as Convenor and Mr. Kishore as the President of the review committee, nine
meetings got conducted in a span of about one and a half month for drafting of
the said bye laws. Suggestions and inputs were received from block wise residents
and by meeting with officials of other societies like Shalimar. Arriving at the
decision with general consensus, the bye-laws finally got revised and accepted
in the General Body Meeting of 09/02/03. The then existing committee opined that
instead of making so many changes in existing set up, it will be much easier to get
the society re-registered with fresh set of bye-laws so as to enable to
constitute a new body to function for all the general welfare of Paras
residents. Burdened with this additional work, the existing committee expressed
their inability to spare any further time and efforts on the same and the old
committee got dissolved and a new ad-hoc committee was formed on 18/05/03 as

This ad-hoc committee was to primarily get the byelaws
registered and also to work towards the welfare of the society. The new
committee got the society registered on priority on 29/07/03 with the
Registrar of the societies under the registration no 12546/03. The new committee
benefited tremendously by the path that had already been marked by the old
committee and it tried to further enhance the pace that had been already achieved. The
approach of the new committee was to function in a organised manner with focus on greater involvement of the residents for their own welfare. Efforts
were made to maintain cordial relation with the Builder to keep getting his
continued support.
The
available record of the minutes of the various meeting held from time to time in
past has been posted on the site for the benefit of the residents so as to get a
feel of the scenario of changing resources, issues, resident participation
and overall spirit within Paras City over a period of time.
